On November 26th. at the OPDL President's meeting, one of Vaughan Soccer’s Technical Leaders: Sergio DeLuca was recognized by the OSA in front of all OPDL licence holders for our ongoing efforts. Through his leadership and support of Vaughan Soccer’s technical coaching team, the vision and passion for player development was recognized by the OSA. Although this achievement was commonly known among all the players and members who are part of the OPDL program, it was great to be recognized among his peers in attendance.
Vaughan Soccer club was ranked #1 in both Girls and Boys for players who get identified by the Provincial programs. This is amazing achievement and true testament to VSC’s player development! See the attached image of the rankings BELOW:
On behalf of all members, players, VSC and OPDL Board of Directors: Great job to our OPDL coaching staff, and keep up the phenomenal work!!! VSC is proud of all teams and their OPDL achievements.
This year, 10 players from Vaughan Soccer Club’s OPDL program have been identified on the Ontario Soccer Association's list for the 2016 Provincial Program. In total there are 6 Azzurri [Girls] and 4 Azzurri [Boys]. There are 3 girls and 2 boys selected from the U14 OPDL squad [2002 born], 2 girls selected from the U15 OPDL squad [2001 born], 1 Azzurri girl and 2 Azzurri Boys named from our U16 age group as well.
If you are interested in the 10 Azzurri players or other, please see the OSA’s 2016 Provincial Teams Final Selections City and Club Info [pdf] - http://www.ontariosoccer.net/images/publications/2016/Clubs_and_Districts/2016_Provincial_Teams_Final_Selections_City_and_Club_Info_v2.pdf
Players named on the list will be invited to the Provincial Screening Competition, which is set to get under way soon. At the Provincial Screening, players will have an opportunity to compete against one another and be further screened and identified for the Provincial Team. Approximately 40 players from both age groups will be selected from this screening and then work closely with the OSA Provincial Technical Staff in 2016.
At the end of the final selection process, 22 players will make the Provincial Team to compete in a series against Quebec's Provincial Team sometime in April. Attending the Ontario vs Quebec series will be several Technical Staff from the Canadian Soccer Association to observe the players in an effort to identify them for potential inclusion in National Teams projects.
Our OPDL program [all age divisions] is constantly improving players, and attracting a lot of attention within Ontario and beyond!!!
The OPDL has been designed is the highest level of league play offered to clubs in Canada, it is an elite standards based league and is a direct route to both the Provincial and Canadian National programs. For more information on our VSC’s program, visit our Club’s OPDL page.
