U21 Azzurri are four-peat champions! 2017 Ontario Cup resides with our U21 Vaughan Azzurri!

vsc u21 2017 on cup champions 1On Sunday, July 23 at the Ontario Soccer Centre our Vaughan Azzurri won the Men's U-21 Ontario Cup Final for the fourth year in a row!!! Prior to the final, the semi-finals took place Saturday, at the Ontario Soccer Centre and the Vaughan Azzurri defeated the Oakville Blue Devils 2-0 while the Woodbridge Strikers edged the Richmond Hill Raiders 2-1 to advance to Sunday's final. The final match was setup to be a classic, as Vaughan Soccer club would be playing for their fourth title against our the long-time rival the Woodbridge Strikers!

Classic matchup: Vaughan Azzurri vs. Woodbridge Strikers

Vaughan had the run of play early but the Woodbridge Strikers capitalized on some confusion at the back and Luca Gaglia tapped in the game’s opening goal. The two sides would trade chances with the no goals from our Azzurri in the first half, but when the second half began, it was all Vaughan pressing once again. Their hard work earned a free kick deep in the Woodbridge end. Vaughan’s Leonard Sohn whipped a left-footed freekick in to the box. The cross found the head of Jovante Etienne who nodded the ball down into the corner to draw the game level at 1-1. Alistair Johnston made no mistake with his opportunity, burying the penalty and giving Vaughan a 2-1 lead. Momentum changed in Vaughan favour, as a Sohn chip into the Woodbridge box found the foot of Etienne who directed it past the keeper to make it 3-1. Johnston added his second of the day from a fantastic freekick from the edge of the box that fooled the Woodbridge keeper to the short side, lastly Aidan O’Hara would add another in the 85th minute as Vaughan refused to take their foot off the pedal, increasing their lead to 5-1. That would be all our efforts that contributed to Vaughan capturing their fourth U-21 Men’s Ontario Cup in a row. Congratulations to our players, and team, great effort on this latest championship!

2016 Inter-Provincial Cup Second Leg coming up: CS Mont-Royal Outremont Griffons versus Vaughan Azzurri! Who will leave victorious???

CSMRO IPC cupshot largeLast weekend, CS Mont-Royal Outremont Griffons and Vaughan Azzurri battled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Inter-Provincial Cup at Terrebonne Complexe Sportif on Saturday November 5 - leaving everything still to play for between the Quebec and Ontario champions heading into the November 12 second leg at the Pickering Soccer Centre (5 p.m. kickoff). It was a good result for us on aggregate.

We are in need of support from all teams, members and Vaughan Azzurri supporters everywhere for the 2nd leg of the Interprovincial Cup D3 Division Game this Saturday November 12, 2016 @ 5pm held at the Pickering Soccer Center. (Address: 1975 Clements Rd, Pickering, ON L1W 4C2)

We will be busing all the players and parents who want to come free of charge and will be having snack on the bus for them. We encourage all coaching staff, players, and members to come out, bring the whole team along with parents to see this game!!!

The club needs to know the number of people coming from each team so that we can order the correct amount of buses, snacks and tickets which the club will pay for. The club needs to know how many are coming ASAP!!! We would be leaving Saturday at 3:45 pm from either McNaughton Turf Field Parking Lot or Maple Community Center Parking Lot and will be return to the same facility after the game.

If we can bring the game to a positive conclusion on November 12, 2016 the Vaughan team will accomplish amazing feet this year by Winning the League, Winning the League Cup and the Interprovincial Cup! Be part of this amazing accomplishment has we approach our 35 year existence in York Region in 2017 as a soccer club. As always, we could not have done it without your support!!!

Go Azzurri!!!

carmine isacco vsc azzurri league1 head coach 2016

"We're not that good of a team without the ball," said Vaughan Head Coach, Carmine Isacco. "But credit to the guys for being good without the ball tonight.". "Obviously we made it three and four and we scored three goals in the half and we beat them with only ten men. So that's a credit to the guys and that's credit to how we planned it for the second half. It's players like Jason Mills, Brandon Mills, Jarek Whiteman - all did a lot of work off the ball."

"A most impressive feat!" writes the Canadian Soccer Association

News of our League1 Azzurri's accomplishment quickly captured the attention of Canada Soccer who offered their congratulations to the team for capturing the League1 Ontario Men’s Division Championship as well as the L1 Cup win in July as well. Vaughan Soccer is the first team to achieve the double of league and cup wins in the Leagues history!
