VSC's OPDL player cracks CONCACAF's U20 best eleven again!

Maya Antoine Vaughan SC 2018 CONCACAF best 11Vaughan Soccer's Women's High Performance Program [OPDL] has been producing opportunities for players since it's inception. One of these players is none other than Maya Antoine, a solid central defender, sharpening her skills at the highest level at only 17 years of age!!! Recently, former Azzurri Maya Antoine was once again named to the best 11 players of the 2018 CONCACAF UNDER-20 WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. An amazing feat that was accomplished twice thus far, this year, and back in 2016 when she was merely 15 years of age

Here's a little bit of information on Maya's incredible journey:

VSC already has a well established and very successful High Performance Program on the male side. Our Women's High Performance Program has been growing steadily, all our Azzurri achievements are evidence of its success.

'Congrats to Maya [@maya_t_antoine - instagram] once again... Sky is the limit for you, and we firmly believe the best you have to offer, has yet to come!!!' ~ 2001 OPDL Coach Jorden Feliciano and ALL of us Azzurri, here at Vaughan Soccer Club!

VSC Women’s High Performance Program

We are excited to offer this program to females born in 2000/2001 to play across several platforms (U18 OYSL, U21 Provincial Elite, OWSL & League One) starting in January 2018.

womens high performance program 1 240VSC already has a well established and very successful High Performance Program on the male side. As evidence of its success, 14 of our 1999 group of boys, accepted scholarships from schools in the US and Canada. Therefore, we would like to replicate that kind of success on the female side..

VSC Director of Soccer, Carmine Issaco (USSF National A License and York University Men's and Women's Head Coach) will oversee the program. Sonia Curvelo (former Cleveland State Women's Soccer head coach and former Portugal National Team Player) will be the Head Coach with Jorden Feliciano (USSF National A license & current Male HP coach) assisting her.

To give parents and players a better understanding of how the program will function, we are holding an information evening @ The Maple Lions Club, 8 Merino Rd, Vaughan, 7:30pm, Wednesday November 1st 2017.

OPDL Azzurri get ready, get set and head to Boston for NEFC Showcase Tournament

opdl azzurri girls 5 800x619Many OPDL Azzurri players have already began to leave for Boston today. Many of our players have been anticipating this unique yearly event, the NEFC Preseason Tournament and College Showcase. Vaughan Soccer Club is sending our 2004, 20032002 and 2001 OPDL Azzurri [Girls] squads to represent Canada this March break weekend! OPDL program leaders and coaching staff have been preparing for this event for some time now, and the time has come, get ready, get set, Vaughan comes to New England, and we’re sure all in attendance will ‘feel the impact’!

Track the team on Twitter, and Instagram [#vaughansoccercl]! All of us here at Vaughan Soccer Club are cheering for you this weekend... Can you hear it, we're kinda loud!!!

This ‘preseason’ experience is sure to give our young athletes the exposure to top talent in the United States as well as showcase our high performance program players to the many scouts and college coaches in attendance. Click here for more information on the NEFC Preseason Tournament and College Showcase annually hosted by New England's Premier soccer club – NEFC. New England is a hotbed for college programs, and each year the Showcase attracts coaches from the majority of these programs, including all of the big-time D1 schools, a wide variety of DII and DIII programs, as well as schools from a broader geographical range throughout the United States! This 2017 they're expecting over 150 programs to be represented. The NEFC tournament attracts highly competitive teams from the United States and Canada.

Great exposure for our girls, and Vaughan Soccer’s High Performance programs! Special thanks for all the team organizers and supporters, without their support, we could not have made this event happen!

OPDL Azzurri player named to 2016 CONCACAF Girls' Under-15 Tournament best 11 players in the WORLD!!!

Earlier this summer, one of our OPDL Azzurri was given an opportunity to participate with team Canada's U17 Women's squad. Her contribution helped Canada finish second at the 2016 CONCACAF Girls' Under-15 Championship in Orlando, FL, USA. Canada posted six wins in seven matches, falling 2-0 to USA in the Final Match last Sunday. Over the course of the 17-camp and competition in Orlando, Canada won matches against Venezuela (6-0), Costa Rica (2-0), Jamaica (5:0), El Salvador (6-0), Curaçao (10-0), and Mexico (3-1). From the get go, Canada's hopes were to reach the end of the competition to ensure they played the maximum number of international matches (seven) and to face two of the region's toughest opponents in the Semi-Finals and Final Match to maximize the players' growth and CONCACAF education.

More details of the Final match, read OSA's posting: Canada Takes Silver, OPDL Player Named To Tournament Best 11

At the close of the competition, three Canadian players were named at the Best XI for the CONCACAF Girls' Under-15 Championship: centre back Maya Antoine (Vaughan SC), left back Julianne Vallerand, and forward Jordyn Huitema. Canada's roster featured players born 2001 or 2002 as part of Canada Soccer's Women's EXCEL Program. Beyond this year's U-15 competition, these players will be eligible for CONCACAF and FIFA U-17 competitions in 2018 as well CONCACAF and FIFA U-20 competitions through 2020. The younger players born in 2002 will be eligible for CONCACAF and FIFA U-20 competitions through 2022.
