2001 Azzurri Boys represent Ontario at the Nationals

We want to wish the best of luck to our 2001 boys who departed on Tuesday October 2nd. to Surrey, BC for the U17 Canada Soccer Toyota National Championships! We also want to thank all of our supporters who contributed to the team [raffle and gofundme initiatives, click here for more info].

There are 24 teams competing in the U-17 Cup, with 12 in the Boys championship and 12 in the Girls championship. Teams have been divided into four groups of three teams, with teams playing cross-over matches for final standings on the last day of the competition. Both championship finals will be streamed live on canadasoccer.com: the Girls Final at 15.30 ET / 12.30 PT (12.30 local) and the Boys Final at 15.30 ET / 12.30 PT (12.30 local).

OPDL Azzurri talent matched with generosity as they award Charity Shield donation to Sick Kids Hospital!

logo opdl charity shield 2015The best of the best in Ontario were in action at the OPDL Charity Shield on the weekend of November 5th, 2016 and our Vaughan Azzurri were there! Vaughan Azzurri 2002 and 2001 Boys OPDL squads had the opportunity to showcase their talent against other top OPDL talent in the presence of fellow OPDL members, scouts and families. As the champions from the East and West U-14 and U-15 boys and girls divisions took on one another, in a one game winner-take-all Charity Shield Showcase. There was a $5 admission fee charged to all spectators – all for a great cause, as all funds were donated to any Ontario charity of choice, which would be selected by the winning team of each match.

The U-15 Boys OPDL Charity Shield featured Ottawa South United, the Eastern Conference champions, taking on Vaughan Azzurri, the champions from the West. This thrilling match would end in penalties and Vaughan was near perfect winning 4-3. Read more: Vaughan Wins U-15 Boys OPDL Charity Shield In A Thriller.

The U-14 Boys OPDL Charity Shield featured the Eastern division winner, Vaughan Azzurri, taking on the Western champ, West Ottawa in a one game winner-take-all. vsc supports sick kids 2017More recently, our Vaughan Azzurri 2001 and 2002 OPDL boys travelled to Toronto and presented Hospital for Sick Children with a donation from the Charity Shield showcase. The team presented Brianna Fodey, Coordinator of Events at Sick Kids Foundation, with a cheque for $1,610! At events like this one, it is clear that our talent is matched by our generosity and compassion. All of us here at Vaughan Soccer wish to thank all the players who took part in the Charity Shield competition and represented the club with dignity and pride! The future of soccer in Vaughan has never looked brighter, with our high-performance program is in full swing, our club is attracting a lot of attention. Earning many awards in 2016, Vaughan Soccer continues to grow through the leadership of our technical leaders, such as Carmine Isacco [2016 League1 Coach of the year] and Sergio Deluca [Recognized by OSA at the 2016 OPDL Presidents meeting].

2001 Azzurri boys team represent top Canadian talent at the APC Premier Cup!

Vaughan Soccer's 2001 Boys team coached by Vince Calabria emerge as Finalists at the APC Premier Cup this past weekend. This high performance team competed in the U15 Premier division and had an impressive run to the reach the finals going undefeated. After difficult round robin games versus talented teams from Maryland and Delaware, the boys dominated their semi-final game with an impressive 3-1 victory over a top competitor from New Jersey.

In the Finals of the 2001 Premier division, our 2001 Azzurri played against a skilled Baltimore Bays 00/01 team. The game was a nail biter, with both teams trading goals but the game ended in a 2-2 deadlock and penalty kicks were required to determine the winner...

Penalties: After both teams scored all 5 kicks our Vaughan team hit a cross bar on their 6th pk, and ultimately lost 6-5.

'This was a fantastic weekend in which our Vaughan 2001 boys were praised by opposing coaches, referees and spectators for their incredible performance at every game, we are truly proud of them!!!' said Vince Calabria [Head Coach].

The team's next event will be the 2016 Adidas Blue Chip College Showcase along with the 2000 Boys OYSL squad. No time to rest as preparations begin immediately.

This weekend tournament [referred to as the APC Boys Weekend] was established in 2010. This annual event is a great pre-season opportunity for boys ranging from U9 to U19! Many of the top teams in the US arrive in from Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 to play in Northern Virginia on over 50 turf fields and 10 Bermuda fields.

All of the high performance teams in attendance were exposed to top level officiating from some of the best referees in the US. Our 2001 Boys team, headed by coach Vince Calabria left Canada with the intent to represent Canada's top talent and represent they did!!! Capturing the attention of many coaches present at this elite tournament, they displayed the technical prowess Vaughan Azzurri posess.

2002, 2003 2004 and 2005 OPDL Trial Process and Information for 2018/19

Vaughan Soccer Club's 2018/2019 OPDL Trial Process for existing OPDL Players as well as Non-OPDL players. All registered players will have several opportunities to be evaluated starting September 2018. The OPDL has detailed the Trial Process and provided specific guidelines, focused on player identification and enhanced player experience. The trial process will be divided into three Phases, as outlined above.

Players interested in trials for the 2005, 2004, 2003, and 2002 age groups, please reference the Phases above regarding non-OPDL and OPDL player guidelines. Once completed you will be contacted with information on sessions date/times to come out in accordance with the OPDL guidelines.  Should parents or players require any further information, please contact Sergio DeLuca , our OPDL Director at opdldirector@vaughansoccer.com

NOTE: If players are currently registered to an OPDL club other than VSC - they must have a letter from his or her club in order to be eligible for VSC trial. Once your form is submitted, please email opdl@vaughansoccer.com directly and coordinate trial dates, make sure to print a copy of the completed Trial waiver and bring to each of the trial sessions.
