Have you seen something special this past year on or off the field, indoor or outdoor, winter or summer? Has somebody made a positive impact on your child or yourself through their volunteer work with VSC? Then please tell us about it and nominate them for VSC Volunteer Award! - PDF format

Be sure to include:·

- Your name and contact info
- The person you would like to nominate
- The team and volunteer position
- The award category that best fits
- Why the nominee deserves the award

Please refer to the attached criteria for each award when submitting your nomination. Awards competitive coaches will presented at our Annual Competitive Banquet. Awards recreational coaches, volunteers and lifetime achievement award at Annual General Meeting

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION AWARDS - AWARD CRITERIA GUIDELINES:

COACH OF THE YEAR (2 AWARDS YOUTH BOYS & GIRLS HOUSE LEAGUE) (2 AWARDS YOUTH BOYS & GIRLS COMPETIVE)

· Showed an above average amount of commitment to the teams over the past 12 months as a VSC volunteer coach
· Did not miss many practices; consistently punctual
· Implement practices with the end goal of player development in mind
· Showed ability to demo proper technique; found the correct opportunities to stop and teach players
· Created a supportive, competitive environment at all practices/games
· Showed good sportsmanship (Was not abusive to officials, used appropriated language, led by example)
· Showed a good rapport with the players on the team
· Players showed substantial improvement by the end of the season
· Players had a positive, fun soccer experience

Volunteer of the Year

· Significantly impacted and benefited the VSC over the past 12 months in a volunteer capacity
· Is innovative, adaptable and has worked without need of reward or recognition
· Embodies the spirit of volunteerism through encouraging and inspiring others to volunteer.
· Conducted themselves with a high level of cooperation, integrity, consistency and enthusiasm
· Encouraged a positive & beneficial environment for youth and fellow volunteers

Lifetime Achievement Award

· Significantly impacted and benefited the Vaughan Soccer Club
· Over an extended period of several years or lifetime
· Made a significant contribution to the development of Soccer in Vaughan Soccer Club
· Is innovative, adaptable and has worked without need of reward or recognition
· Embodies the spirit of volunteerism through encouraging and inspiring others to volunteer|
· Conducted themselves with a high level of cooperation, integrity,
· Consistency and enthusiasm
· Encouraged a positive & healthy environment for youth and fellow volunteers

Note: The Lifetime Achievement Award is not an annual award, and may not be awarded every year at the discretion of the VSC. VSC understands and values that staff spend many hours above and beyond their compensated duties for the benefit of the club. However, for the purpose of the Volunteer Awards, if a nominee has worked in a paid position for VSC in the past 12 months, they are not eligible.

2003 Boys CSL squad capture the 2018 Collingwood Invitational Championship title!

 

Our under 15 boys CSL team has experienced much success in the past year and continued to work hard off and on the field. The team managed to win the 2018 Collingwood United SC Invitational and hope to continue their success this outdoor soccer season! 

Their first match was on Saturday June 2nd. versus FEDS U15 Boys, then they faced Mooredale Select, and lastly they completed the regular round with a win over Leamington SC United. They were set for the playoffs the following Sunday. With a win over the talented Newmarket United our U15 Azzurri boys squad reached the finals, poised for success. ...and success was the result when they faced Georgetown SC in the Finals. It was a competitive match between 2 good teams, congratulations to our 2003 Boys CSL squad, we are proud of the boys for bringing the championship trophy home! 

'Please join me in congratulating this special group of young athletes who are dedicated to their training and team tactics' said Luca Forno.

NMRP Update: North Maple Regional Park is on track to open for summer 2018!

Great News! North Maple Regional Park is on track to open for summer 2018!

See letter received from the City of VaughanConstruction of Phase 1 of the park has been progressing well. Electrical work and field lighting are done. The senior artificial soccer field turf has been fenced, graded and the base preparation has also been completed.

The field planarity and porosity tests were completed and they either meet or exceed FIFA standards. Artificial turf is being installed, site grading, walkways and supporting infrastructure continue to progress well for the park opening in Summer 2018.

Sewers, water service and building foundations will begin shortly for the washrooms/change rooms and service buildings and will open for the 2019 season.
Our club would like to thank Local Councilor Iafrate, Mayor Bevilacqua and all members of Vaughan Council who collectively and unanimously supported moving this park forward. We would also like to thank The City of Vaughan Staff for their amazing contribution for this phase of the project.

2018 ANTI-BULLYING AND SOCIAL MEDIA AWARENESS WORKSHOP

Vaughan Soccer Club wants to thank all our members who recently attended our 2 Anti Bullying & Cyber Bullying sessions delivered by Paige Backman for the second year in a row. This year, VSC decided to go with 2 age appropriate delivery based sessions. One session was geared for U7 to U12 and a 2nd session for U13 to U18. Thank you to Paige Backman for another amazing workshop / seminar 2nd of our 3 series part on Anti-Bullying to our athletes and parents.

Anti-Bullying and Social Media Awareness Workshop Guest Speaker

Paige Backman, a partner at Aird & Berlis LLP and the Co-Chair of the firm's global Sports & Media, Privacy & Data Security and Technology Groups. She represents and works with international, national and domestic sports organizations on various matters, including cyber bullying, investigations and disciplinary matters. She is a director of the Knowledge Flow Cyber Safety Foundation and recently appeared before the House of Commons Special Committee advocating for enhanced protection of minors’ privacy. Paige has sat on or been advisor to the Board of Directors of a number of national and international sports organizations, including chairing their Business and Risk Committees and Governance Committees. Paige is also a former Canadian National Team athlete herself, will be addressing the issue of social media and the risks and consequences of it for athletes. She will also discuss cyber bullying and how to deal with it.‎ 

Vaughan Soccer REP/Competitive players, Coaching, Administrative team staff and parents are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on players learning and well-being.
