Vaughan Soccer's 8th Annual Toy Drive helps to support the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

With the holidays fast approaching, the City of Vaughan is continuing the tradition of giving back to families in need. The Vaughan Soccer Club will be participating again this year and will be reaching out to our membership for support.

The VSC will be launching our toy drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish this Saturday, November 11, 2017.

With the Christmas spirit in mind we at the Vaughan Soccer Cub would like all players registered for the 2017-2018 Indoor programs to contribute to this great tradition. Where to drop off your toy:

We ask that 1 unwrapped toy per Indoor player can be dropped off at the Vaughan Sportsplex on weekends before or after their game (there will be a Vaughan Soccer Collection table set up)  or the toys can be brought to our Club Office during our regular business hours.  Rep teams and all other VSC members can drop off their toys at the club house as well. We will begin collecting toys this Saturday November 11 to December 9th.

All toys collected will go to the City of Vaughan Location on Monday, December 11th, 2017

Let’s play Santa Claus and help our needed families!

PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL TOYS ARE NEW AND UNWRAPPED

2 Azzurri represent VSC at the 'Our rugrats Expo'

Vaughan Soccer Club is often called upon to participate in many community events! If you happen to be at Trio Sportsplex last weekend, you may have run into VSC's information booth at the 3rd Annual “Our Rugrats Expo”.

Families came out for a fun day of music and activities. Kids met several characters including Elsa & Anna from Frozen along with Batman and Spiderman! There were performances by The Arcadia Academy of Music band as well as a show of gymnastics and dance.

Vaughan Soccer Club was just one of the many community vendors there. We were able to meet many families, answered any questions they had about our programs, especially our upcoming 2016 Outdoor House League Season. A great time was had by all!

Do you have a community event that you think Vaughan Soccer should be a part of? Contact our Club Administrator and inquire how VSC can partner or support your community event!

New park coming to Vaughan - North Maple Regional Park - UPDATE!

On Wednesday, the16th of January 2013 Vaughan Soccer Club called upon it's membership to attend a meeting at City Hall. The City of Vaughan was reviewing facilities being 'considered' for the new park coming to Vaughan - North Maple Regional Park. We needed to ensure the City of Vaughan is aware of the needs of Vaughan Soccer and our soccer community... as you know we have a shortage of quality soccer pitches in Vaughan.

On September 10th we received a written update from Councillor Marilyn Iafrate [Ward 1] regarding the new field. Please see below:

---  Letter ---

Dear Mr. Bartolomeo:

I am writing this letter to provide you and your club with some exciting news that came out of this week's final Council meeting.

After many years of patience and waiting on your part, Vaughan Council approved $300,000 to be used immediately to begin the design work of Phase 1 of the North Maple Park plan. The design work will include the necessary roads, parking, trails and two artificial turf fields.

The design work will be done over the winter and in the interim, City staff has been instructed to bring forward the construction costs for the two turf fields in the 2015 Capitai Budget. Although funding for the first turf field has been in a reserve account for many years, I spent some time researching and analyzing funding sources for a second turf field. Given my success in finding those funds, Council agreed to add the second turf field to the Phase 1 project.

It is important for Vaughan Soccer Club that these two fields move forward quickly in the planning process in order to provide much needed space to grow and deliver current programs. I hope that you will continue to support the Phase 1 plans for the North Maple Park. It is very important for you and your members to come out in January of 2015 to show support for the funding of the two
turf fields.

Respectfully,

Marilyn Iafrate | Councillor, Ward 1 | Maple/Kleinburg

--- end of letter ---
