Vaughan Soccer Club wants to thank all our members who recently attended our 2 Anti Bullying & Cyber Bullying sessions delivered by Paige Backman for the second year in a row. This year, VSC decided to go with 2 age appropriate delivery based sessions. One session was geared for U7 to U12 and a 2nd session for U13 to U18. Anti-Bullying and Social Media Awareness Workshop Guest Speaker
Paige Backman, a partner at Aird & Berlis LLP and the Co-Chair of the firm's global Sports & Media, Privacy & Data Security and Technology Groups. She represents and works with international, national and domestic sports organizations on various matters, including cyber bullying, investigations and disciplinary matters. She is a director of the Knowledge Flow Cyber Safety Foundation and recently appeared before the House of Commons Special Committee advocating for enhanced protection of minors’ privacy. Paige has sat on or been advisor to the Board of Directors of a number of national and international sports organizations, including chairing their Business and Risk Committees and Governance Committees. Paige is also a former Canadian National Team athlete herself, will be addressing the issue of social media and the risks and consequences of it for athletes. She will also discuss cyber bullying and how to deal with it.
Vaughan Soccer REP/Competitive players, Coaching, Administrative team staff and parents are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on players learning and well-being.
